Huaiyong Zhao, PhD

Huaiyong Zhao is a postdoc researcher who studies perception and action. He came to TU-Darmstadt in 2015 after completing his Ph.D. in Cognitive Science at Brown University.
Successful locomotion in a dynamic environment is vital for human’s survival. To accomplish such task, people need to coordinate their locomotor behavior with the motion of surrounding objects. Understanding how locomotion is guided by visual information has been the main focus of Huaiyong’s research. Using virtual reality and eye tracking techniques, he manipulates what participants see in a virtual environment, measures and models their locomotor behavior. His current studies investigate the visual control of locomotor interception and road crossing.
